Associations
American Society of Exercise Physiology (ASEP)
It is a national non-profit professional organization committed to the advancement of
exercise physiologists. Founded in 1997 in the state of Minnesota, the Society provides
a forum for leadership and exchange of information to stimulate discussion and
collaboration among exercise physiologists active in all aspects of the profession.

American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance
AAHPERD is an alliance of six national associations, six district associations,
and a research consortium which support healthy lifestyles through high quality programs.
American Academic of Kinesiology and Physical Education
The dual purpose of The American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education shall be to encourage
and promote the study and educational applications of the art and science of human movement and physical
activity and to honor by election to its membership persons who have directly or indirectly contributed
significantly to the study of and/or application of the art and science of human movement and physical activity.
American Association of Anatomists (AAA)
The American Association of Anatomists was founded in Washington, D.C. in 1888, for the
"advancement of anatomical science." Today, AAA is the professional home for biomedical
researchers and educators focusing on anatomical form and function.
American Physiological Society (APS)
The American Physiological Society (APS) is a nonprofit organization devoted to fostering education, scientific research,
and dissemination of information in the physiological sciences.
American Association for Health Education (AAHE)
The American Association for Health Education (AAHE) advances the profession by serving health educators
and other professionals who strive to promote the health of all people.
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
ACSM advances and integrates scientific research to provide educational and practical
applications of exercise science and sports medicine.
American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is a national professional organization representing more
than 66,000 members. Its goal is to foster advancements in physical therapy practice, research, and education.
American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB)

International Union of Physiological Science (IUPS)
The IUPS is an organization which brings together physiologists from throughout the world.
The unifying objective of physiologists is to increase mankind's understanding of the functions
of cells, tissues, organs and organ systems of animals and humans.
The Physiological Society
The Society's main aims are to promote the advancement of physiology and to facilitate
communication, both between scientists and with other stakeholders.
